There was a fire at my mother's house yesterday.

No one was hurt but the damage is intense. A lamp in my mother's spare bedroom, which she uses as a storage room, made the curtains catch on fire. Everything in the room was destroyed along with of other things in the house.

If I were to estimate how much moneys worth of stuff was lost, I would say about $30,000 and that's not including structural repair. I hope the insurance company acts fast on this.

Oh - and to top it all off when my mother called my brother and told him about the fire, he got so upset that he hit a pedestrian crossing the fucking street.

Also, my car broke down and I got my period. All this shit on the same day - FUCK-FUCK-FUCK!!!

Can I haz razor now? Ah, forget it. I'm stressed to the max. I'm going to go play Bingo on Myspace.

Holy. Shit.
Will insurance cover the costs of the damages? Was the person your brother hit okay?
I'm so sorry to hear about all of this! I hope everything works out for you.
*hugs*

Crap !!!! That totally sucks what happened.........I'm glad it wasn't worse that someone was hurt or killed......I hope the person your brother hit is OK, It did alot of damage to the walls but most of that soot can be cleaned up. I hope she gets in one of the fire cleanup companies they do wonders and usually the insurance companies will pay for that........I wish her the best, I'm sorry you had a terrible day : [

Thank you all for your wonderful words of support. This is what happened with my brother:

Junior (my younger bro) answered my mom's call while he was driving. After the call ended, he came to a stop sign and stopped completely before going on. When he did this, some crazy bitch decided to cross the street in a hurry and my brother hit her.

Let's take a small break there. Just last week, I was telling my husband that one of the things I didn't miss about living in Norristown was all the assholes and crazy bitches that could care less about oncoming traffic when crossing the street.

Let's continue. My brother got out of his car to see if she was okay but she was unconcience (sp?). He quickly got his cell phone and dialed 911. A female cop came on the scene and she asked for his ID. Wanna know what she said? "I just came from your mother's house. Are you okay?" After that every police officer and ambulance showed up, most of them came from my mother's house. There were a lot of witnesses around so the cops talked to them and you know what? They all said the same thing. My brother came to a complete stop - then he continued when the women decided to cross the street. Basically it was her fault. The police let my brother go without even giving him a ticket.

Oh My Goodness! this is so awful, your poor mum! :o( i take it that no-one was hurt in the fire? i hope not, how traumatic for your mother, the damage is one thing but the loss of personal items with sentimental value will feel even worse, things that can't be replaced. I really really hope that she gets sorted soon, poor lady, like i said, this is just awful, my thoughts are with you. Love Tina xoxo
